What is the difference between DOT and Non-DOT drug testing?
DOT testing follows federal Department of Transportation rules under 49 CFR Part 40. Non-DOT testing follows your company policy. goMDnow supports both through one ordering process.
Do I need a membership to order a drug test?
No. One-time tests can be ordered anytime without membership. Consortium membership ($99.00/year) is only needed for DOT random testing compliance under FMCSA regulations.
What does "PROHIBITED" mean and how do I clear it?
PROHIBITED means a driver cannot perform DOT safety-sensitive work after a failed or refused test. After completing SAP Steps 1–4, order the RTD Step 5 test through goMDnow for $159.95 — which includes the observed urine test and FMCSA Clearinghouse reporting.
What is the new fentanyl testing requirement?
The DOT has proposed adding fentanyl and norfentanyl to mandatory drug testing panels for all DOT-regulated industries. goMDnow already offers fentanyl-inclusive panels for employers that want to get ahead of enforcement.
Can an owner-operator manage their own random drug testing?
No. Under 49 CFR Part 40, owner-operators cannot administer their own random drug and alcohol testing program. A certified C/TPA like goMDnow is legally required to manage random selection, notifications, and Clearinghouse reporting.
